Aaron Judge becomes first rookie to be named favorite player

The Sports Poll has tracked favorite players in the major sports every month since January 1994. In August, the Yankees' Aaron Judge became the first rookie to be named favorite player for any of the major sports. LeBron James, Dak Prescott, and Ben Roethlisberger had been the only rookies to reach as high as #2 during their rookies years.

Ichiro Suzuki (2001) and Buster Posey (2010) reached #8 during their respective seasons.

ESPN.com writes, "Judge was named by 2.7 percent of MLB fans as their favorite player in August, ahead of Dustin Pedroia and Mike Trout, both of whom were named by 1.4 percent of MLB fans in August." Click here for the full story.
